Letter with a foreign stamp
Hi all,
This is the 2nd time I'm writing this entry. Haiz. Still being beseiged by com problems. But seriously speaking, I should be thankful that I'm able to post this at all, since this connection is considered an unexpected surprise. So, yar, I'm thankful enough. We all thought that it would only be accessible after registration, so unstable and all aside, at least we could go online from time to time in the comforts of our rooms.
The whole trip to Notts took zj and I some 24hours. From the departure at Changi Airport to London Heathrow, including the stopover at Bangkok and transit at Zurich, and the subsequent 3-n-a-half hrs coach ride up to Broadmarsh, Notts city centre, then the final cab journey to bgp. 24 hours and counting. Since then, it's been a whirlwind of activities that's been keeping me on the go: collection of keys, moving of stuff from Willoughby (gotta thank some good kind souls for this), helping pals move their stuff from their storage spaces, buying of necessities and groceries, unpacking and setting up the room, some cleaning, going around the freshers' fayre, etc. I'm tired. But I'm also glad that I'm finally past the initial taxing stage of settling in. Awaiting registration and signing up for activities at freshers' fayre (It's like a large 'societies signing up' area, and after the short walk around the tentage booths a while ago, I have come across a number of intriguing choices I'm thinking through currently), then it'll be the official start of the academic year. May this year be a pleasantly memorable, fulfilling and fruitful one!
One thing that reminded me sharply that I'm back in the uk was the cold, sharp wind that greeted us upon our exit from the airport. Ohh..back to the days of constant moisturising and the fashion of jeans, long-sleeves, scarves, gloves (not yet, but soon..) and jackets. Quite a stark contrast to the bare-back, sleeveless, short demin skirts n shorts fashion back home in the tropical island.
It's good seeing some familiar faces again. Will miss some of those hall moments and friends I made in the 1st year.
Staying with friends in a flat this year. So far, we've all been busy 'setting up house' so I haven't actually got down to cooking proper yet. But I'm eager to begin! (Heh. Or rather, I'm kinda guilty that I haven't begun..=p)
Hmm. Going to rest for a bit now, then hopefully I can start something for dinner soon. Missing home-cooked food a little, I shall see just how much of the 'home-flavour' I can replicate with the resources I have here!
For those who are still reading this blog, do drop a msg at the tagboard k? It'll be great to hear from u guys!
Love,
Me.
